Founded in 2006, the Otago-Southland Region of UN Youth covers the entirety of New Zealand located south of the Waitaki River. Initially, UN Youth Otago offered specialist support to the Otago-Southland branch of Rotary to help run their Model United Nations Assembly events. Since then, the Region has diversified its events programme and this year our region will host a secondary event in Dunedin, several tertiary socials, civic workshops within schools throughout our region and hopefully a secondary event in Wanaka. We might be the youngest region, but we are also the fastest growing.

New to 2020

This year UN Youth Otago will be focusing on bringing amazing Civic workshops into as many High Schools across our region as possible. This will be an awesome opportunity for volunteers to get involved so keep an eye out for the upcoming schedule.

UN Youth Otago is the most isolated branch of UN Youth NZ and we understand that accommodation and travel costs can run high. We want Otago-Southland to #Represent at ALL national and regional events. So, to make it easier and more affordable to volunteer and/or attend events, we will be fundraising throughout this year, with 100% of the money raised going into the “Otago Equity Assistance Fund”. This fund will help cover accommodation and travel costs, and registration fees for BOTH Tertiary and High School students.

Check out our regional Facebook and Instagram pages for all the details and opportunities.
