UN Youth Wellington is looking for a group of committed tertiary students to take on our most ambitious conference yet! Wellington Model Westminster Parliament 2018!

This event follows Wellington’s tradition of being a bold and exciting region! We aim to open up a new avenue for civics education in our region. We believe an important element in understanding the international community, is also knowing how law is made to benefit our society. To achieve this, we will reflect on where Aotearoa’s unique legislative branch came from historically. This means simulating the inner workings of the Westminster Parliamentary system of two Houses, The Commons and The Lords. This means working through the passage of law from bill to statute.

Volunteers will learn important organisational skills through this committee, including working within budgets, managing relationships with external parties and creating educational content and strategies. These skills transfer well both in terms of further volunteer work and professional development.

Application details and requirements can be found here.

If you have any questions, please contact wellington@unyouth.org.nz. Applications close on Friday 19th January at 7pm.
