UN Youth New Zealand is a youth for youth organisation that aims to promote ideals related to global citizenship through Model UN events. We provide young people with a forum through which to engage with important global issues outside of the traditional classroom environment. UN Youth operates across New Zealand, delivering conferences to hundreds of High School students every year. As a High School Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to work with other like-minded High School students from across the Wellington region in promoting our events throughout your school and even organising your own In-School Model UN event!

As a High School Ambassador, you will gain insight as to how UN Youth operates as an organisation and learn invaluable skills related to becoming a volunteer later on. You will act as the link between the Wellington Regional Council and your school. You will have the opportunity to attend a training day where you will learn about promotions and what the role fully entails. This will also allow you to network with other students and Wellington volunteers. Being a High School Ambassador is a rewarding experience as it allows you to help others access a unique civics education program whilst contributing to the growth of an ever expanding organisation. In 2019, the Wellington Region is looking to make some big changes to the program, so this is an exciting chance to be part of this change.

Each school in the region can have up to two HSAs and all candidates must apply individually. For any questions or concerns please contact Manraj at manraj.rahi@unyouth.org.nz
