Overview

Following a Special General Meeting (SGM) of UN Youth on 2 July 2019, the members of the organisation passed a resolution to adopt a new constitution. This new constitution reforms the governance structure of UN Youth, with a Board set to assume the governance responsibilities previously held by National Council on 1 January 2020.

Consequently, an Establishment Board of Directors (EBD) will be established. The EBD will be made up of three to five Ordinary Directors, a Volunteer’s Representative and the National President of UN Youth for the time being. From its appointment at the end of August, the Establishment Board will be responsible for preparing the necessary documents and processes for the new governance structure, so that when it comes into effect on 1 January 2020, the transition is as smooth as possible. We are looking for a range of candidates to put themselves forward for election to the EBD.

Please refer to the Ordinary Director nomination pack here, which covers all relevant information about the Board, candidate eligibility, and nomination requirements. All materials outlined in this application must be included in order for a nomination to be considered.

Nominations for the Ordinary Director positions on the Board are now open and are due by 5 PM on Friday 2 August 2019. Please email nominations to the National Operations Officer, Seraphina Koo, at operations@unyouth.org.nz by the deadline. Late nominations will not be considered.

Nominations for the Volunteers Representative will open soon.

For any questions, please contact Seraphina Koo, or the National President, Jayden van Leeuwen, at president@unyouth.org.nz.
