Pacific Project is an annual trip for high school students that educates participants on New Zealand’s relationship with the Pacific. It combines a week at the prestigious UN Youth Australia National Conference with an educational study tour to Vanuatu. Ten high school students from around New Zealand will be chosen to participate.
Applications close 11.59pm, Wednesday 15 March
The purpose of the trip is to educate students on the interactions between New Zealand and Vanuatu. Over this time you will learn to critically appreciate the similarities and differences between their own lives and the lives of others. This year, National Conference will be held in Perth, and will explore the theme of ‘The Innovation Revolution’.
In Vanuatu we’ll be visiting the High Commission and local schools, getting involved with community projects. Once again we’ll be staying with Alick at his Homestay accommodation in Port Vila – a UN Youth tradition and one of the best parts about Pacific Project. And finally, it wouldn’t be a trip to the Pacific Islands without a chance to head to the beach and spend some time in the sunshine before we return home to the grey winter of New Zealand.
This application is to register your interest in the event. If successful in this round, applicants will complete a formal written application and an interview. If you’re ready to discover new countries, cultures and communities, apply for Pacific Project.
