The Global Development Tour is led by a team of four, a Director and three Assistant Directors.

It is the Director’s role to create and execute a vision for the tour. The Director’s vision should consider both their ideas and aspirations for Global Development Tour 2018 and how the year’s trip will contribute to the long-term development of Global Development Tour. This vision will inform the wider organisation and support the educational value of the tour. Key tasks as part of this will include selection of cities and meetings to visit, the writing and provision of educational materials to delegates and the selection and registration to a conference for the tour.

The Assistant Directors may be allocated specific portfolios, which have been finance, education, and logistics in the past, but this is dependent on the skills and expertise of the applicants. The finance portfolio focuses on obtaining sponsorship for the trip and helping delegates with the sponsorship plans and applications. The education portfolio focuses on the educational content required for the trip and ensuring delegates are adequately prepared for any meetings or conferences they will attend. The logistics portfolio focuses on the details of the trip itinerary and group activities, as well as flights, accommodation and food.

The primary role of the committee is to organise and oversee all aspects of the trip, including flights, accommodation, logistics, educational content, sponsorship, delegation selection and bonding, and communication with various external parties, as well as the supervision and provision of pastoral care to the 22 delegates aged between 16-18 years of age.
