Applications are open for the Global Development Tour 2018 Delegation!

The Global Development Tour is an educational tour focusing specifically on the United Nation’s 2030 Goals for Sustainable Development. These universally agreed targets represent how we hope to see the world change for the better in the next 15 years. The hope is that showcasing the businesses, NGOs and civil servants leading this vision to our young people will set them an example to follow in their time at university and entering the workforce.

In January 2018, 22 outstanding young New Zealanders will set out with four volunteer directors on a month-long study tour of Europe and New York. Visiting the cities leading the charge to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this trip will connect the students with the policy makers, businesses and NGOs that work together in creating the future. The delegates will learn about global development, international cooperation, and of course, the role the United Nations plays in both.

We intend to see the contexts that brought about the need for the SDGs and the nuances being considered in their resolution. This first-hand approach will empower our delegation to take on these problems themselves in their own communities, bringing home all they have gained back to New Zealand.
