There is an error with the dates and times of the WMUN Facebook event. To clarify this, WMUN is a two-day event beginning at 9am on Saturday 30th March and ending at approximately 4pm on Sunday 31st March. It is not separate events on each day, delegates and volunteers must be available for both days! Apologies for any confusion this has caused.

Introducing Wellington Model United Nations 2019! The two-day event will be full of exciting debate and discussion of topical issues from the perspective of your assigned country, as well as interactive workshops and activities. This event aims to broaden delegates’ knowledge of international relations and current events, and strengthen their public speaking and negotiation skills.

This year, we’re focusing on questions surrounding small arms control, the freedom of information, and women’s rights, as well as several others, in a unique Model UN structure. The diverse range of topics planned for debate means there will be an issue for you to voice your opinions on no matter which country you are assigned.

Registrations open for conference assistants on 1st February, and for delegates on 8th February. All registrations close on 1st March. There are limited spaces for this event so make sure to get started on your application early!

UN Youth can also provide scholarships in cases where the registration fee is a barrier, based on equity and transportation costs or difficulties. If you would like to be considered for a scholarship for this event, please indicate so on your application.

For more information and queries regarding registrations and the event itself, contact the event Communications Officer, Joanna Li, at joanna.li@unyouth.org.nz
