Overview

Southland Model United Nations 2019 is an exciting opportunity for all high school students in the Southland region to learn more about global, national, and regional issues.

The event will be tun by UN Youth Otago, a branch of the wider UN Youth organisation. Our goals are to provide the tools and knowledge to help promote ‘global citizenship’ and to provide engaging civics education to people of all backgrounds and interests. For more information about what we do as an organisation feel free to refer to our ‘About’ tab above.

We will be holding the event on August 30th at Southland Girls High School. Over the day students will be acting in the role of diplomats representing the views of a country in exploring and debating current issues. Workshops, mass debates, and committee sessions will be run with opportunities for everyone to get involved regardless of your experience level, or previous knowledge!

This is the perfect opportunity to discover and develop your own leadership, advocacy, debating, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. It is also a great first step to getting involved in UN Youth as a wider organisation and attending some of our other regional, national, and international events!

Registrations are open now and will close on Friday 23 August 11.59 PM.  So make sure to get in before all the spots are gone!
