Overview

New Zealand’s largest UN Youth event is returning for 2019! Auckland Model United Nations (AMUN) takes place over two days at The University of Auckland, involving over 400 delegates and tertiary volunteers. AMUN offers secondary school students the chance to experience life as a diplomat. Through an abundance of interactive workshops, activities, debates, panels, and guest speakers across the two-day event, UN Youth aims to broaden delegates’ knowledge of international relations and current events, understand their own place in the world as a global citizen, as well as strengthen their confidence, public speaking, negotiation skills, and all-around communications skills too.

AMUN 2019 is focused on the theme of development, specifically the world’s UN+DENIABLE need for social, environmental, educational and financial development to improve life outcomes for all. The committees chosen for the conference are at the forefront of tackling obstacles to development around the world. Delegates have the chance to debate topics such as water pollution, mental health, and sustainability, strategising ways to resolve developmental barriers their committees face.

Alongside 400+ like- minded individuals, students can band together, build friendships, and tackle the world one problem at a time. Students will emerge from Auckland Model United Nations more equipped to make a difference to their world.
