On Saturday 1 June, 2019 we celebrated 20 Years of UN Youth! An event was held in Wellington, with many alumni, past national presidents, sponsors, and supporters coming together to celebrate the successes of the organisation and to look into the future.
UN Youth has come an incredibly long way. No longer are we just a group of students that organise Model UN events. Today, UN Youth involves over 3000 young New Zealanders every year ranging from Invercargill to Kaitaia. In 2018, we interacted with over 3000 students, held over 50 Regional Events, 4 National Events in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and 5 International Events covering four different continents!
Our goal has evolved and now focuses on inspiring young New Zealanders to be global citizens. Global citizenship exists in an incredibly diverse range of forms, and UN Youth aims to provide the opportunities for young people to become the global citizen that they aspire to be.
You can help us secure the long-term financial future of the organsation, and also allow us to provide equity scholarships for students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to engage with our programs, by setting up a donation or scholarship at http://youthglobalawarenesstrust.nz.
