UN Youth is committed to developing ties with young Māori communities in New Zealand, and abroad. We actively encourage our Māori Volunteers and delegates to participate in our programmes and the organisation. We have Māori and Pacific Island Liaison Officers on our Regional Councils, as well as at our national conferences, that help to foster these ties.
The purpose of our Tikanga Māori Policy is to provide Volunteers with the information and examples to recognise and implement tikanga Māori principles so as to better reflect the diversity of New Zealand and show respect for tangata whenua. Volunteers are encouraged to keep our Tikanga Policy in mind when they develop and organise our events and activities.
